left in several places team collects and preserves obvious small objects which may have Brits all magnets at their entrance ways there are two ways of attaching the cloth the first is by stapling Begin by placing a staple in the center of two opposite sides then staple toward the corners stretching with a consistent tension place the Staples at an angle and finish at a corner dollar volume the inside can you see how insulation might make a home more comfortable e um is it live uh hi everybody uh I'm my name is Skip Alzheimer and I collect uh staplers and uh after my first streaming uh video people were very enthusiastic and so I thought I would do another one and um yeah I'm excited to show you uh my staplers uh I have them uh my wife uh let me uh put them on a shelf here um I have one 2 three four five 6 78 nine there should be a 10th one I where is uh um I think I have more than 10 but for some reason there's only nine there maybe I miscounted but so um yeah people wanted to know more about how I kind of got into this and um why I started collecting I mean I guess I didn't know that I was collecting Staples staplers because I uh just one day counted how many I had and I I think I have more than 10 cuz I don't know why I don't have them here but I realized just by not even knowing I was collecting them and so I felt like I wanted to show The Collection because I have more staplers than most people I know so I figured I had something special so to show you so um let's see how did it all start I don't I don't know how old I was but I remember getting a stapler very similar to this one this is not the stapler I had to find a picture that was close to the one I got and um I remember getting it it was in a little plastic case and maybe it was a Christmas present or birthday present I can't remember but a little plastic case and a little sleeve of Staples and it was blue so I couldn't find a blue picture but this is a red one um so that's kind of how I first started uh then over the years mostly in college I started uh getting more uh staplers so I'm sorry these have pollen on them it's been very pollen but this is uh you know this is a traditional stapler I want to say this is this is a Boston stapler I think I got this from work uh and it has uh right here you can adjust and you can make it where the staple goes in or you can also make it so I can't can't see it on the um I'll pop this out all yeah oops um you see you can change to where it goes in or it goes out um so this is a basic stapler you know this is for a couple couple of sheets of paper it's not a lot um then uh this is Katrina's she got it and you know you can do a couple you just hold it in your hand and you can hold up in staple all right let me see so you can just kind of do you can just staple like that see and you don't even have to set it down it's super easy this is a one of the newer staplers and it's not really mine it's technically Katrina's but you know we're married so there you go um I used to make uh Zen uh like photocopied Zen and so one of the things I got was a what they call a SAT Stitcher and I don't know if this has Staples in it no not anymore these you have to get special Staples for um but anyways what you do is you would you would basically put it on the spine and then you could staple on this on the spine of it and then you would have like a stapled little Zen which is kind of cool then uh cuz I had a photocopier at one point uh I was making Zen uh like I said but I was also to pay for the photocopier I had a business where I would hang flyers for a loc local bands and clubs and so around the college where I was and so I got this is called a hammer attacker and you can use it for a couple of things but basically you can take it and you can just that doesn't have Staples in it so I bought uh one more recently for some work I was doing and so see just stays like that I got to get this out so Katrina doesn't notice all right um and this uses uh a kind of a thicker staple almost like you would have with a staple gun um this is Katrina staple gun it's brand named Ace but I think it's made by Stanley um anyways so that one is same type of thing see so it it's I know it's not coming out I'm going to have to get a screwdriver for that um then in doing uh I did uh course packs uh back in college uh to help pay for the um oh here it is so this is a a swing line and it's for super thick uh so you know like probably 25 uh it says up to 160 I don't know if it could do 160 really but it can do a lot and so you just staple it and it has these long Staples and it goes all the way through uh so that's what we did for course packs um this one's kind of cool it's called the swivel uh 210 and it it swivels it really literally you see like that it swivels so you can put things at an angle and you see that the I don't know if you call that the platin but that's the Staples kind of go right there and they they Bend depending on regardless of what the angle is so it's pretty great I haven't had a chance to really look at the comments to see what everybody's asking about um surgical Staples maybe we'll do another if this works we'll do another episode about surgical Staples because that certainly worked um stapler Geeks shirts wow that's crazy I think that's cool though um so I uh I I was looking to see cuz I know that one of the uh uh comments that people had is they wanted to see more than just me talking uh and I certainly showed you some stuff but I I found some video on this site uh called archive.org and they have a bunch of stuff there uh it's pretty great um so I found this uh very short video um and it it looks like a promotional video but it's um these are some four abilities and and so they have a variety of some of them very similar to what I have and it's a there's a trendy line [Music] and you see that kind of the new innovation they have a logo of a kangaroo like I don't know why they don't call it kangaroo maybe there was already something so it's very similar to this uh swing line in that it's you're holding it so it actually has indentations for your fingers um what else did I oh yeah so here's another one that was used for uh course packs you see it's actually you can adjust where you're stapling so you can adjust this and set the paper in and then staple now the thing is this is a still pretty much a traditional stapler so you know the value I don't know why I got this like I or how I ended up with this like I think this was at somewhere I worked and they they were going to throw it out so I said I'll take it I mean this is before I knew that I was collecting staplers um yeah so back to uh this place called it's called archive.org and so I was looking and um they had all this amazing stuff there I'm trying to figure this out so they had this uh specifications in India for uh what a stapler what would qualify as a stapler and I don't know I didn't have time to read it it's it's pretty good though has some great pictures like this um it basically talks about what is what qualifies as a stapler so the N nomenclature of stapler um desk type heavy duty and you see that it has operating level never uh oh it's not called a platin it's called a clinching Anvil clinching Anvil so that is uh pretty pretty great um and then there's a staple driver you know all these are are basically part of a of a stapler um let's see um here it says all metal surfaces should be thoroughly Clean and Free from dirt oil grease moisture before applying finish uh all metal surfaces shall be either painted or platted plated uh and then it says uh this is to test so this might be either you got a you know if you're a manufacturer or if you were trying to sell a stapler in the country this is what they would um the the to get certified and I don't know if this is specifically to sell staplers to the government or if this is just in general if it's a commercial thing um the uh there's a thing called a shock test all stapler shall be tested by dropping the machine on a concrete floor or slab from a height of 90 to 100 cm machine shall be dropped so as to strike twice on the top and twice on the base twice on the opposite end of the machine and twice on both sides of the machine the the machine shall not be damaged in any way during the test um the stapler shall be marked with manufacturer's name initials or trademark with the leg size of the Staples to be used with stapler um each stapler may also be marked with an isi certification Mark and I think that's what this is part of this certification and then um yeah it's the Indian standards institution certification Mark so that was something that I found on archive.org um then I found this video of uh teenagers uh making Bibles using a motorized saddle Stitcher uh I showed you the saddle Stitcher I have which is manual but this one looks pretty great so they're folding up photocopied or printed pieces of paper [Music] and what that all right I'm cutting the volume so you see that they're putting it on the like the spine or the saddle and then there's a foot pedal uh that they use and so this is more this is what like a print shop would have if they were doing a bunch of these but it's just a bunch of adolescents and young adults doing this making um it says the video said they're making Bibles but that's a pretty thin Bible if you ask me um yeah that's pretty great so one of the great things um that came out of me doing the first show that I did is that some people who I guess have followed you know they're interested in what we do uh there's this guy old radios who he does stuff with AI and so he sent me some really funny interesting ideas uh he sent me these uh AI computer generated pictures of and he said they were staplers of the future and I I think it's interesting to look at these to think that well they look like staplers although that one on the far on the Right End like there's no pivot point so I don't know how the Staples get in contact with the clinching Anvil um but the other ones I like that the the first one has like a little LCD screen and has like a little little buttons that you hit um to I guess to do whatever cuz that's you know technology is little buttons um um the center one looks more robotic but style style-wise they look beautiful um then he he sent me this which uh I thought was really great staplers of an apocalyptic future so this is after Society has collapsed um it seems like there's a lot more gears and uh everything is more damaged uh but very mechanical so all the um buttons electric buttons and um Etc has uh you know is gone but it looks it almost looks kind of Steampunk too and that one on the right end is I don't know what that loop on the back is but it's kind of hilarious um very much like that um so thank you old radios for those uh donations of those images uh I think they're pretty hilarious um so uh I'm reading here's I'm looking at the comments I'm sorry um oh people have been donating I didn't know that that you could do that oh thank you uh Nathan Jones thank you Rick k um um Rick K says he needs help and somebody's saying that there's not they want more stapling images uh imagery um okay let me see so I'm guessing Rick K needs wants some help with like understanding stapling more let me see if I can come up with an example um yeah maybe I could show how this works if it has Staples in it that's the thing is I collect staplers but I don't always collect Staples this one has almost a full sleeve of Staples in it so that's good so um yeah so the deal with this is I can't the camera I can't quite get but you can adjust where the paper Falls so if you were stapling in the Center and so my feeling is that you know maybe if someone didn't want to use a saddle Stitcher but they still wanted to staple in the middle then they would set it uh so that it would Staple in the middle so I know that it's 11 so 5 and 1/2 I adjust this red stopper uh to 5 and A2 you see it's right there and then I put it here here is that right yeah and so you see it set it has it in the center um I can't this over here sorry I I don't have a camera that can show but um yeah hit that it's been a while since I used this one and then do another one on the left end yeah and so now there's there's two and then you could fold it and it's almost like what you could do with a saddle Stitcher so but I tend to like the saddle Stitch better I just don't have uh Staples to show them off uh here's another video that I found uh this one is I think this is from Waco Texas maybe um and it is their local Affairs I guess website posted this video about some volunteers uh enjoy [Music] the municipal information office helps keep employees up to dat by sharing important news through email and employee internet and with the city talk newsletter the monthly publication just for City Waco employees features helpful information such as employee health tips Assistance programs policy updates news and upcoming events to ensure that everyone receives a copy the newsletter is attached to employee pay tubs every month but with almost 1,600 on the payroll that's a big job thankfully a trio of dedicated volunteers stepped up to help out with the job Wilburn Lesman Charles robnett and Harlen Williams unselfishly give of their time each month dedicating two hours to the task and that's in addition to their many other volunteer responsibilities including hundreds of hours dedicated to fighting crime with wo's citizens on patrol citizens on patrol and citizens Police Academy alumni association I'm a remember both of them have been for years and uh it's just a something to help out the community and try to show the community what we're for we're not police officers we are uh ears and eyes and ears of the police officers and that's what we do there well we work a lot of parades and things like that around town we do once a month in different neighborhoods well I've been on several City boards U just whatever is ask of me I try to do it it's a we do with the cops we Cruise try to do be the eye and ears for the police department whatever else that they ask us for that we might be able to do their participation began several years ago with a friendly request by a mutual friend and wo Police Department employee well I think Mark metel he thought it up and got have started coming up here Sergeant Mark metell oh well I got involved because I was asked and it entails of stapling the little things right here little Flyers to the used to be the checks or the checks and uh that's the reason I got into it I was ask and I come down to fill out so I filled in I've been doing it ever since have a lot of fun why do they do it certainly not for the pay the only reward these these volunteers receive is an occasional treat of cupcakes or cookies provided by fellow stapler Chris Martin the newsletters editor Martin says she can't do enough to show how grateful she is for the help of her three stapling volunteers well what I love about having my three stapling volunteers is that first of all the job would take me half a day easily to do all by myself but second of all it's a time I once a month I look forward so much to getting together with these three guys and and talking and I learned so much from them they always act um so happy to help in everything in their uh in citizens on patrol in the communities the neighborhoods they're always just ready I've never heard any of them say no to helping and um that's why I call them my Three Musketeers they're very gallant and they're very um just just so willing and able to be there to help out the city or the community and uh I'm grateful we have a great time after I retired I had to have find something to do to keep me from getting old it didn't work giving of their time and talents volunteers like Wilburn Lesman Charles robnett and Harlen Williams are making a difference every day in our community I was reading in the comments and yes get some WD40 on those chairs they were super squeaky I mean I I have an office chair but I don't use it um because of that because I will lean back uh I'm just in a kitchen table chair right here um so somebody asked in the comments and I appreciate your comments and you watching uh William asks uh do I have any opinions on the differences between an arrow uh t59 DM and a Stanley bow Stitch BC uh t1x and I could talk more about industrial staplers I don't have any industrial staplers like this and these were made for uh stamp uh stapling either low power cables or uh audio video cables or uh you know network cables and they're uh one of them uh I think the arrow has insulated Staples so that if there is a short it won't you know short out everything it's kind of insulated so I don't know if it's coated in a plastic or rubber or something but um that uh I don't know they they have their different uh uses and I don't don't have any of those in um in my uh collection I have been looking on you on not YouTube on eBay but I keep getting um uh outbid but there's definitely ones that I'm interested in and there's novelty staplers and I don't know if I'm interested in those the ones that have uh like cartoon characters uh I I I don't know if I if I necessarily am interested I like the ones that are actually meant for a task um and cuz that's what these are these are all meant for a task um so that was a good question thank you William uh and like I said maybe if uh if the ex the interest is there maybe I will do one uh about medical ones medical staplers that's you know staple skin together uh but then also maybe I can do very specific uh uh Niche ones that are meant for certain industries um Nathan asks about 16 mm films about staplers I I don't know what that means um uh yeah okay um let me see what else I have um anyways this is my my my like I said my second show um I thank you to Katrina my wife for letting me set up uh I got to get this down I'm going she's going to be mad um but basically this had books on it and so like you know like I had this book on there which is just weird I don't know I looked at it once and it's not even in English or any real language it's very weird um but so I don't know if I want to grow past like maybe I could get 20 staplers um like I don't think I want anything beyond that but I don't know maybe uh cuz having a lot of a collection is is hard and it takes up space Oh wait there was here it is oh so this is another one this is the 10th but it was over next to uh the printer I I think I was printing something out and I used it so that goes there um but uh I think if the next thing I would like to get is a stapler is like one of the older staplers that have like a spool of wire behind them and it feeds into uh the stapler and then it it cuts and then bends the wire and makes a staple on demand um those those are pretty cool looking uh but they're very old um and I don't even know if you could find the wire anymore if you can just use wire General wire a certain gauge but that's I'd like to have get one of those cuz they just look cool kind of like the old radios like the um the apocalyptic future ones it's very convoluted there's a lot of extra things that uh staplers nowadays like like I said like this one it's very simple very all the everything is kind of obscured by the plastic and the ergonomic design um and so uh I think that's all I got uh I um oh somebody saw somebody's looking at my bookshelf uh oh yeah you can see the other books that I have oh that's funny um there uh this is from my um Zen days uh this is a amazing it's all clip art I used to collect clip art when I was doing Zen back in the day and so this is just clip art it's beautiful stuff uh and then there's Everybody Poops uh which is a great book for people of all ages so yeah so you see a little bit about other things that I do I don't play bridge my wife plays Bridge um and yeah I collect like I said that's my thing is collecting Staples
