hi everybody i'm skip alzheimer and welcome to the avgeeks lunchtime streaming show um we just saw a 16 millimeter film called catapults real one uh i showed catapult reel 2 a couple of months ago and these are films that were shot by uh someone who was involved with the project these are kind of home using home movie cameras and um this one gives it has the inner titles and kind of gives you an idea of um what the impetus was behind this project and this is early kind of proto drone technology like this is um you know the ability to launch these things for reconnaissance like there'd be cameras in there or there'd be other things you could do deliver things payloads etc this is early early uh i don't have an actual year on it though um i haven't been able to determine that because it was literally this was always written on the cannon as cat pulse um and this was donated from someone who had a bunch of old castle films that their father had and most of them were vinegar um some of them i've shown on here but uh this was kind of the interesting highlight and i asked the person who donated them but what was the status on this i made a copy of them from dvd and they said well yeah my father was involved in this project so kind of interesting um this next film is the coronet film we have been scanning digitizing coordinate films and this one is has been faded faded we haven't found the kodachrome version of this one yet but it's still great nonetheless this is the three little pigs background from reading and expression [Music] when you see animals do they sometimes remind you of stories [Music] do you like to watch them and think about stories you have read or listened to i think it's fun let's try it look here are one two three baby pigs with their mother is mother pig worried about something is the dog worrying her yes she seems to think the dog may hurt her babies a mother pig three little pigs and a dog do they remind you of a story they make me think of one called the three little pigs it's about three little pigs and a wolf the wolf in the story looks something like a dog like many stories that never really happened this one begins once upon a time once upon a time there were three little pigs who lived with their mother she taught them many things about how to take care of themselves she taught them to hide from the wolf then one day mother pig sent the little pigs out to seek their fortunes now the first little pig followed a path that led across an open field soon he met a farmer with a donkey carrying a load of straw when the farmer saw him the little pig said please give me some straw i want to build a house and the farmer did so the first little pig started to build his house soon the little straw house was finished the first little pig thought it was a fine house not far away the wolf had been watching all the while when the little pig saw the wolf he decided to go in his house and when the wolf moved closer the little pig shut himself in the wolf came up to the door little pig little pig he called let me in no no call the little pig not by the hair of my chinny chin chin that made the wolf very angry he cried then i'll huff and i'll puff and i'll blow your house in he hopped and he puffed the little pig ran out the door just before his straw house fell in the little pig didn't know which way to go then he ran straight back to his mother and the wolf never saw the first little pig again now the second little pig went down a path that led through the woods he met a kind old woman who was carrying home a bundle of twigs for firewood the little pig said will you please give me some twigs so that i may build a house the kind old woman gave him the whole bundle of twigs so the second little pig started to build his house soon it was done and the second little pig was very happy but he was not alone the wolf had found him too at first the little pig thought he would make friends with the wolf but then he remembered what his mother had told him and shut himself in his house little pig little pig let me in not by the hair of my chinny chin chin then i'll huff and i'll puff and i'll blow your house in he huffed and he popped the little pig got out just in time and the wolf never saw the second little pig running back safely to his mother the third little pig went beyond the field and the woods and over the hill looking for just the right place to build his house whom should he meet but a man carrying a load of bricks when the man stopped the little pig said if you would give me some bricks i'd be very grateful for then i could build a fine strong house so the kind man gave the third little pig all the bricks he would need to build a house building with bricks took a long time it was hard work too finally the little brick house was finished it was a fine house but up on the hilltop was the wolf he had found the third little pig too just in time the pig got safely inside his house little pig little pig let me in not by the hair of my chinny chin chin then i'll huff and i'll puff and i'll blow your house in he huffed and he puffed but he didn't hurt the strong brick house a bit inside the third little pig was safe and sound then the wolf tried to trick the little pig i'm much smarter than that pig he thought so he said meet me tomorrow morning at six o'clock at the garden i'll find some nice fresh turnips for you turnips thought the little pig that sounds good and the wolf thought i'll get him tomorrow morning at six o'clock but at five o'clock the next morning the little pig got up and hurried to the turnip patch and a few minutes before six he was home again with all the turnips he wanted out at the turnip patch the wolf grew very tired and hot waiting for the little pig of course the pig was safe to catch him the wolf would have to try again the next morning they were to meet in the apple orchard the pig was already busy picking apples when the wolf arrived here called the pig is the very best apple i saved it for you then he threw the apple with all his might and while the wolf was chasing it the pig climbed down and ran home soon the wolf was trying another plan to trick the little pig little pig he called there's a fair in town i'll meet you there tomorrow at four o'clock he won't beat me tomorrow morning thought the wolf but at three o'clock the next morning the little pig got up and went to the fair at the fair he bought a churn so that he could make his own butter then he started home but this time the wolf was waiting for him near the bottom of the hill near the top of the hill the little pig set down the churn and got ready to surprise the wolf the wolf was watching for the little pig when suddenly he saw something that made him run away he didn't wait to see the little pig step out of the churn a few minutes later the little pig was safe at home he had a big kettle of water on the fire when the wolf came back and saw the churn on the floor he knew what had happened on the hillside he was very angry because the little pig had tricked him again he was so angry that do you know what he did of course you do there was the kettle and the wolf slid down the chimney right into the hot water the wolf ran away so far he has never come back and that's the story of the three little pigs at least that is one way to tell the story do you know another [Music] do you know other stories about little pigs why don't you tell your class about this story or about other stories try it it's fun [Music] well that's where it's kind of fleshed out a lot more then i'm used to what i remember but uh i seem to would think that the wolf would just not use his brain and would just uh use brute force to terrorize the pig that's that's my take on it is um at some point if they're constantly getting tricked it's like you know what i'm just going to um freak out and jump over whatever and break into whatever and and beat you um that's just me that's just me um here's another cornet film primary safety in the school building it's a little jumpy because of sprockets at the beginning but it gets real good enjoy [Music] when you are working in your class do you sometimes forget some of the safe ways to do things to keep from getting hurt well today in miss johnson's room they've decided to play a safety game that will help everyone think of safe ways to do things in school and all of us who are watching can play the game with them here's how the game is played today its bills turn to be the safety guide the safety guide is going to watch the things the class does when he sees a good safe way he'll give it the go sign just like a traffic light and he'll raise the stop sign when he sees a way that is not safe if bill doesn't see it someone else will now he's watching a group at work and all the rest of us are watching watching their safety practices look closely now bill sees something did anyone else see it what was it the safety guide saw that's what miss johnson wants to know do you know yes richard passed the scissors handle first that's the right way the safe way isn't it and all of us want to learn to know good safe ways to keep everyone from getting hurt now let's keep watching do you see something do you suppose june was trying to catch the safety guide what's the safe way to carry pencils and other sharp things yes with the point down miss johnson has a picture that shows how someone might get hurt by not following good safe ways do you see what can happen to someone who carries his pencil with the point up let's all remember the right way carry sharp things with the point down all right let's keep watching as the group goes on working who will be the first to see a good or a bad safety practice do you see something doris sees it but the safety guy doesn't miss johnson wants doris to show what it is when you carry a chair that way the legs might hurt someone what's a good way to carry a chair this way points down the way we carry pencils the class beat the safety guy at that time bill will have to look sharp pony are you watching the way the class is watching and bill is watching let's see if you are oh do you see what the safety guide sees does marilyn see her own bad safety habit yes keeping all four chair legs on the floor is the safe way it would keep this fellow from getting hurt wouldn't it so everyone will keep his chair right square on the floor do you see what the safety guard sees what ellen says gordon needs to remember to keep his feet out of the way so they won't trip other people we all need to remember that well now it's time for recess but because of rainy weather they will go to the gym today but it seems that some forgot to keep thinking about good safe ways to do things if everyone takes his turn getting his gym shoes without crowding and shoving they will all get to recess sooner and more safely won't they now clark has a question for miss johnson is it good safety to walk around with a shoelace dangling no it is not bill's going to watch that from now on and we can watch for more safety practices on the way to the gym now watch did you see what bill saw why did he give the stop sign what would happen to roy's fingers if that door closed all the way it's good safety always to use the doorknob so your fingers don't get caught in the door i see a good safe way do you the safety guide sees it too everyone knows about walking on the right side of the hall so we don't bump into people coming the other way but should we walk this close to the wall the safety guide thinks not here's why it's a good idea to keep to the right but leave enough room for doors to be opened without hurting anyone what about safety on the stairs it's a good practice to hold onto the handrail to keep from getting hurt if you should slip and to walk not jump or run these are good safe ways do you remember the others we've seen how do we pass the scissors that's right handle first how do we carry pencils or sharp points we carry them point down how do we carry chairs yes with the legs pointed down how do we sit on a chair we keep our chair legs on the floor all four of them and we keep our own legs out of the way so no one trips over them when we go somewhere or do something together do we push or shove no we wait for our turn without crowding or hurrying what about fingers on the edge of the door it's safer to use the doorknob do we keep to the right yes but we leave enough room so doors can open without hurting anyone we always walk on the stairs without jumping and we hold on to the handrail and there are other safe practices you may know and would like to think about maybe you would like to play a safety game in your school and have more fun too [Music] [Music] this is the fairground where the fair is held every year about this time this becomes a place of work and excitement for they're getting ready to hold the fair here the fun of the fair is in the making all the shows and rides and make-believe of the midway here too from far and near farm folks are bringing in the products of the harvest the choicest of their animals the finest of the things that are grown on the farms here at the olsens farm they're getting ready for the fair too into the truck goes one of the calves that johnny olson has raised each of the boys is taking his finest calf to the fair this is johnny this is bigger brother bob sister ann is going to she's taking her four pigs mrs olsen is ready to start but first she must see what mr olsen is taking to the fair it's a sample of his corn the very finest ears everyone ready it's time to go and now they're off with their corn their pigs and their calves to have a day of work and a fun at the fair here in the big cattle barn on the fairgrounds folks are at work early tending and grooming their cattle bob and johnny are there early too they're getting their calves ready for the show they comb and brush the calves coats until they are smooth and sleek the boys want the calves to look their best over here ann is busy grooming her pigs sheep powders them all over to make them look whiter see how spotlessly clean they are but now there's time to go sightseeing johnny goes first to see the fish say these bass would make good fishing if only they were in the creek back home at the 4-h club show anne stops to see the model rooms these have been made by the 4-h club girls brother bob is interested in the butterfly collections here's a beautiful case of butterflies and moths this is one of the many exhibits made by the 4-h club boys ann and her mother like to see the home canning show here are rows of fine canned fruits and vegetables but anne thinks her mother's canning is just as nice what's this homemade cakes the judge is deciding which one of them is best first she feels the cake then she tastes it judging cakes ought to be fun here in the grain show mr olsen is watching while the judge decides which farmer has the best corn the judge feels the weight and shape of the ears then he looks at the evenness of the rows of grain and the size and shape of the kernels but surely none of the corn is quite as fine as mr olsen's it's time for lunch most of the visitors at the fair have a quick bite at one of the lunch stands and a foot long hot dog looks mighty good to these boys butter but here at the 4-h club camp where many of the farm boys eat they get fried chicken with all the trimmings other fairgoers like to picnic on the grass like this bob still has lots to see this is a jet plane wonder what it would be like to fly it here is a tractor it's much like the one bob's father has he knows how to drive this all right say listen to the band it's time for the parade [Music] [Music] the parade is put on by the farmers clubs from all over the state this float was made up by one of the 4-h clubs [Music] now at the grandstand the races are beginning a car gives the starting signal and here come the racers down the track and the way here they come up the back stretch and bob gets there just in time they're into the curve they're going into the home stretch and here they come across the finish the race is over now it's time for the calf show bob and johnny are putting the finishing touches on their calves johnny polishes up the horns till they fairly shine and father of course stands by now the boys take their calves to the arena where the show is beginning [Music] into the big shadowy arena many other boys and girls are leading their calves here come bob and johnny they take their places in a long line the judge is to choose which among all these calves is the best bob and johnny hope he'll choose theirs [Music] up here the folks are looking on [Music] now the judge is coming down the line he looks at each calf closely with a practiced eye and quickly sees the best and the weakest points now he orders the doubtful calves out of the show too bad bob loses out but what about johnny he's still in line and now the judge wants to see his calf in the open he looks at johnny's calf very carefully but what's this here's johnny back in line well it looks like he has a winner [Music] now the judge is picking out the champion of them all it takes careful work to choose the calf with just the right size and build and weight and firmness one by one the judge ranks the cavs and sends them back to their proper places in the line at last the choice is made the judge's work is done he has picked the winners well the champion's blue ribbon goes to a girl [Applause] johnny gets a ribbon too his calf is a winner now the day's work is over and it's time for fun the gates to the midway open on a hundred ways of having fun there are shows and games of every kind and best of all a thrilling ride on the giant ferris wheel [Music] here they go quickly into the seat with the bar fastened tight to keep them in safely and now the wheel turns up up high in the air and this is how it seems to ride the big ferris wheel [Music] and now for a ride on the whip [Music] this is how it seems to ride on the swooping whirling whip too soon the rides are over and too soon all the fun comes to an end but our friends are very happy they've had a wonderful day at the fair oops i was uh doing some color correction in another room came back actually i should say this this is a pre-recorded show so i don't know what i'm doing i don't know where i was or where where i'm going to be uh and there's something kind of fun about this uh so i pre-recorded this because sometimes we lose power sometimes we lose internet uh sometimes i've got uh a meeting that i can't move um might be unloading a truck filled with audio visual materials um i might be in a bathtub i might be traveling who knows anyways i still want to do this show i still want to continue doing this show uh so i'm going to try to be next film we're gonna watch is a longer one but it's uh and it's this is gonna run over the hour that i've slotted but it's really great film uh it's made by uh american telegraph and telephone american telephone and telegraph at t and um you know you come up with the technology you spend all the time and energy getting the wires put out in the world but how do you teach people how to use this new technology that's going to change their lives uh and this film is made for kids uh the irony of this is it says that it's in uh technicolor uh the print i had was super super red and i could not get the colors back back in the day now i have technology to allow me to get those colors back but uh this is we learn about the telephone so enjoy [Music] that's no way to answer the phone susie oh matthew's residence this is jimmy just a minute please uncle bill captain adams wants to talk to you thanks jimmy hi captain this is bill no we don't usually have ducks answer the phone that one belongs to susie my niece nephew are visiting me and i promise to take them on a picnic oh you need that poster today if it doesn't stop there won't be anything yeah it's great weather for ducks oh sure glad to do it bye captain adams wants this poster i've done for him delivered to him at police headquarters today i'll drop it off on our way to the park good thing i got that phone call if he hadn't reached me i wouldn't have gotten it to him on time i never thought about that uncle bill you never thought about what what did people do before the telephone was invented how'd they get messages to each other in a hurry well while we're waiting for the rain to stop let's see if we can find out by playing make-believe oh good that sounds like fun now here's our friend we'll call him uh mr man he's going to take us back thousands of years way before telephones or televisions or telstar he looks a little like you uncle bill he looks a little like all of us jimmy you ready mr man man has played many parts during the years he has lived on earth so let's make believe we're going back in time thousands and thousands and thousands of years ago that's right when men lived in caves and hunted for their food [Music] found a herd or else supper will run away the only way mr caveman knew how to get a message from one place to another was to send a runner as civilization grew man's way of life changed but he still used runners to send messages the egyptians used runners it took two days for a greek runner to bring the news of a great victory he is getting tired [Music] he discovered he could ride horses the romans used horses so did the knights that's a fully express rider that's right but man wanted to send messages faster than a runner or horse could travel he's sending an indian smoke signal right but only the simplest messages could be sent this way and none at all if it rained [Music] he learned to use flashing mirrors by daylight [Music] and blinking lights when it was dark he couldn't send messages very far that way could he oh jimmy couldn't but man has always been able to solve his problems by inventing new things that's a telegraph message yes about 125 years ago samuel morris invented the telegraph a way to send code messages over an electric wire the code was made by using different clicks for each letter of the alphabet first message sent over 40 miles of wire was what hath god wrought the telegraph was and still is wonderful but mr man wanted to send his voice over a distance to carry on a real conversation then in 1876 a man found a way he invented the telephone hey that's your phone uncle bill hello matthews residents this is jimmy hi mom hi yes we got here before the rain started uncle bill's gonna take us on a picnic if it lets up bye we're playing mapley i'll tell you about it when we get home good okay mom bye what are you doing susie she wanted to hear the voice going through the wire you can't hear voices in the wire well how does it work how'd your mother's voice get in the phone that's simple it that's funny i don't know i never thought about it before we were talking as if we were in the same room how does the telephone work uncle bill madden no not magic susie but science science of sound waves and electricity how do they work we'll let mr man show us we'll pretend now he's a musician all sounds come from a movement of the air back and forth like waves i don't see any waves see the string move back and forth i have seen strings and rubber bands move back and forth but i've never seen a sound wave well you can't really see them you hear them but you could see them they look like this different kinds of sounds make different kinds of sound waves a low sound makes a different wave than a high sound hey rudolph that's the wrong note you see people's voices make sound waves too when we speak air from our lungs moves vocal cords like these in our throats hey rudolph this movement makes sound waves and sends them out of our mouth hey hey when sound waves reach the ear of another person they make the drum in his ear move back and forth and he hears the sound the other person is making i see but how do you hear over the telephone we're coming to that when mr man speaks into the telephone the flow of electricity in the wires makes it possible for the other person to hear what mr man is saying just as quick as a flash but how well when he has dialed his friend and his friend rudolph answers the flow of electricity in the wires connects mr man's telephone through the telephone building to his friend's phone oh mr man's vocal cords make sound waves which go into the mouthpiece of the telephone these sound waves make the electricity flow stronger and weaker depending on the sound waves his voice makes remember now that the flow of electricity is changing from strong to weak as it comes from mr man's telephone these changes work on the receiver very much the way sound works on your eardrum the electricity makes a little metal plate vibrate this vibration makes sound waves come out of the receiver and so in a split second the person on the other end of the line hears the same words mr man is speaking and what he hears sounds just like mr man's voice rudolph i said that's the wrong note ah susie you shouldn't play around with the telephone somebody may be trying to see somebody was trying to call us yo matthews would you repeat that slowly sir you must have the wrong number what number are you calling well not so loud i'm sorry but this is 5 five five three seven five nine i shouldn't lose my temper even when people roar into the telephone at me always talking always talking ah it's a good thing animals don't talk on the telephone say let's pretend we're at a talking animal circus mr man can be the ring master sounds like fun there we are may i draw his whip sure whiskers here all set mr man ladies and gentlemen presenting the greatest the most soundsational talking animal act the world has ever heard introducing the lion and the minor bird miss myrtle miley bird speaking how are you please don't roar at me what did the lion do wrong jimmy you don't have to shout into the telephone to be heard that's right just use your normal speaking voice and speak directly into the mouthpiece i'm sorry myrtle presenting the impatient squirrel and the sleepy bear watch jimmy when you dial you should make sure you bring your finger all the way around to the finger stop then for each number let the dial go all the way back by itself each number all the way then let go see yes sir hmm blue now i wonder who that was he waited too long right he waited too long to answer but if you're the person making the call you should let the phone ring eight to ten times see both of them are disappointed and now the preposterous pachyderms in other words elephants so like i said i want to invite you to ivany smarty who are you calling a smartie no no i said i'm giving a party at my mouse don't you call me a mouse what is the matter jimmy hello i know it's important to speak clearly on the phone so the other person can understand what you're saying right again jimmy and now for our grand finale the gossipy piggy and the fed up fox well guess who was there [Music] so i said to her well how is it every time i go to a sale i run into you it's just the funniest thing excuse me lady but i've been waiting to make an important call for 25 minutes but i simply must tell irma about my new hat well now as i was saying before i was interrupted selfish and impolite to hog the phone somebody may be waiting to use it are trying to call your house dude that was fun i hope nobody's being selfish on bobby's phone i'll call him to see if he's coming on the picnic um no answer you sure you dialed the right number well i better look it up i'm not sure i know how oh that's easy let's let mr man show us now what's bobby's last name martin robert martin we call him bobby what's his father's first name his name is robert oh mr man is ready [Music] [Music] telephone book formation in the telephone book the last name always comes first like that martin robert okay suppose his name was raymond let's see a comes before o in the alphabet so r a of raymond comes before r o of robert i know and the telephone book is arranged in alphabetical order as in the dictionary and the encyclopedia where we look up words and facts raymond martin telephone before me [Music] how about roger martin you try it jimmy let's see all the letters are the same up to this point but the next ones are different in the alphabet we see that g comes after b so roger is listed after robert under the martins in the telephone book that's right jimmy good roger martin telephone book for me now what if his name were robert mayer m-a-y-e-r remember the last name comes first in the telephone book well may comes after mar because y comes after r in the alphabet so robert mayer would be after all the martins in the telephone book right again now i can do it here it is martin and robert 22 montrose the number is 555-2368 be sure and write it down all right telephone book is very helpful our friends are in it like robert martin my doctors vision repair man the bicycle shop then in this little book i write down the numbers of people i call often you should have one too jenny saves a lot of time to keep the phone numbers of people you call often like your friend bobby oh yes hey look the sun's out now we can go on our picnic i'll try to call bobby again i'll tell him to meet us in front of the police station at 2 30. that way we can drop off the poster for captain adams all right hello mrs martin this is jimmy matthews may i please speak to bobby thank you hi bobby listen we'll meet you in front of the police station at 2 30. don't forget to bring your ball and glove hi tom hi there children this is captain adams hello captain adams how are you today fine i want to be a policeman when i grow up she wants to be everything when she grows up here's the emergency poster you wanted thanks i think jimmy and susie would like to know how valuable the telephone is in emergencies good you come inside for a minute and i'll show you now the telephone helps us because it lets us know right away when we're needed and how when and where we can help people how would i call the police if i needed them this poster your uncle made we'll show you how we want to use this to show children how to get help in an emergency you dial zero to get the telephone operator be sure you hear the dial tone first remember yes sir zero is the last hole on the dial now see be sure you bring the dial all the way around to the stop then remove your finger and let the dial go back and you dial zero once and the operator will answer then what then you say i want a policeman please and the operator will connect you with the police station now when somebody like the sergeant here answers you tell him who you are where you are and why you're calling the police police station sergeant evers oh that's too bad may i have your name and address please and your phone number how old is linda five where did you see her last in our front yard and how long has she been missing and what was she wearing pink dress and a yellow sweater all right mrs hoskins don't worry we'll find her and let you know as soon as we do oh sorry yes ma'am goodbye thanks sergeant now see how careful we are to write everything down pardon me yes sir get out on all points bulletin five-year-old girl lost linda hoskins last seen on elm street here's a description sarge this is officer jensen six in elm street that's what i'm calling you about she was all alone looking in a toy store window oh sure she's fine good work officer jensen we'll have a car to pick her up right away see how the telephone helps us do our job call mrs hoskins and tell her we found her little girl over here at the window i want to show you something there it is telephone building in many ways it ties the community together when you dial a number this equipment inside the telephone building automatically connects you with the person you're calling whether he's across the street or miles and miles away thousands and thousands of calls go through here every day this is riley's dairy we need 50 pounds of butter 50 pounds of butter and uh one crate of large eggs we'll deliver it today this is mrs lee doctor when can i bring tommy in for his checkup let me see uh how about tuesday uh four o'clock that will be fine well eddie's garage joe's speaking this is les perkins my produce truck's broken down i don't know what's the matter where are you highway 26 near maple avenue okay less i'll be right out lina's mother asked me to stay for lunch may i all right malia but be home by three o'clock i will that shipment gone to plainview yet not yet carl we're loading it now good listen jess they just called they want three more cartons of soap okay kyle but telephone service wouldn't be complete without people to handle special calls and emergencies let's hear what the operators are saying mr hansen please long distance calling i'm sorry the line is busy i'll keep trying and call you mr marco i'm ready on your call to honolulu i'll connect you with the fire department on your call to sunnyside mr mccarthy will be back in an hour will you talk with anyone else thank you [Music] the fire department needs a telephone as much as we do i'm sure of that well and faster than quacker can telephones reach up into the sky they can and they do and even more amazing men are working with communication satellites that orbit the earth these satellites can carry telephone messages and television pictures to and from many different parts of the world and outer space yes jimmy outer space too lan himself is in it all systems go a okay why it's mr man yes and just think jimmy and susie someday in the future you may pick up a telephone and soon be talking with your friend even if he's on the moon when do we go uncle bill pretty soon hey jimmy here he comes [Music] sorry i'm like jimmy i couldn't find my glock that's okay bobby let's go [Music] so [Music] [Applause] so that was a jerry fairbanks company that did that and probably animated it but there was definitely no blank voice i can clue into mill blank pretty easily he has a couple of voices and one of them was a marvin the martian um and uh pam fergie fergun uh she later i think she played oscar felix unger's daughter on the odd couple tv show then was in a bunch of other kind of things in the 70s as a child actor um but uh yeah you know it's fascinating to to see this because this is really trying to and it reminds me of the time that i didn't know how to use a telephone and so as a kid the telephone had dial had a dial and so like how do you learn to use the telephone dial like what does that mean how do you translate these seven digits into uh this dial and you know what is the etiquette behind it and how do you answer the phone and you know what is this all this fascinating technology so films like this really interest me especially given how communication has radically changed uh the phone is still even more important uh to our society uh and how we communicate but it's not communicating with the voice as much anymore it's more about imagery and text and things like that so there you go some of you might actually be watching this show on your
