Description: The purpose of this program is to present an assessment consultation between Drs. Norman Ackerman and Rugh Peachey, the Hillcrest family's therapist. In this consultation Dr. Ackerman shares his impressions of the family with Dr. Peachey. He notes that at their arrival the family indicates alienation and resentment. He comments on Sonia's seductiveness which he feels covers up her submerged anger at Carol for usurping her place in her father's life but that by being "mother's helper" she can assure a place in the new family. Bruce withdarws completely away but is in a state of suppressed rage. He is aware that Norman expects Carol to assume more of a disciplinary role or the oldest two children will destroy the chance to build a new family. Both parents try to cover up problems in the marriage by placing the blame on the two children and Dr. Ackerman sees the reluctance to admit trouble in the marriage as an indication that they are anxious about making this second marriage work
