Description: Note d German film critic Lotte Eisner, interviewed in her home in France, describes the cinematic triumphs of Berlin in the 1920's. She reminisces about her meetings with such film directors as Eisenstein, Murnau, Pabst, and Riefenstahl. Targeted by the Nazis, Eisner fled to France where she helped found the Cinematheque Francais with Henri Langlois. There, photographs, set designs and costumes of films like Nosferatu, Joyless Street, and Metropolis are preserved. Still active in the film world, Eisner is an ardent supporter of New German filmmakers Wim Wenders, Werner Herzog, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
