This romantic musical tragicomedy centers on a group of Argentine exiles living in Paris and working together to produce a tango-dy, a uniquely Argentine entertainment described as a tango plus tragedy plus comedy. Haunting the film is the ghost of Carlos Gardel, the legendary tango singer/composer who died in 1935. The film creates a mesmerizing atmosphere, bathed in smoking blue light, punctuated with wild bursts of fantasy and surrealism and keyed on show-stopping tango numbers of dazzling sensuousness.
