Ivens and his crew were present when the workers of a Shanghai generator factory joined together in a political movement critical of management. Workers discuss material incentives, paste political posters on the factory walls and attend a theatrical performance staged by members of the factory. The film concludes with some of the workers making a long march to the country to aid peasants on the land.
