Records show that the United states has the lowest fatality rate among major nations in the world based on deaths per hundred millions of miles of travel- with continuing improvements in recent years. Yet, industry executives, government leaders, safety groups and concerned citizens all agree that the annual highway toll is still too high. According the the National Safety Council, auto fatalities have averaged slightly over 50,000 the past decade. This figure includes not only vehicle occupants but also pedestrians, motorcyclists, bicyclists Etc... The film:”UFO / Unrestrained Flying Objects” talks specifically about the annual 30,000 car occupant deaths because that’s where seat belts can make a major contribution.
