Description: Based on the poem of the same name by Earle Birney, the film tells the story of two young men who set out to climb an imposing cliff which is part of a high mountain in the Rockies. Bob, younger and a novice at clilmbing learns from David, a 19-year-old and the two struggle to the top. Along the way, they talk of life and death in a relaxed and carefree manner. Having reached the summit they barely have time to enjoy it before David slips and falls to a ledge where he lies with a broken back. He pleads with Bob to push him the rest of the way, to end his life quickly, as getting help will be impossible.
