Persistence of memory

From the modern view that whales represent an intelligent species, writer and host Carl Sagan moves to the study of genetic information, the functions of the human brain, and the chemical-electrical processes that enable us to think. Points out how genetic libraries of the brain are translated into symbolic communication (writing) to create libraries which house the information of generations. (Includes a sequence filmed in the Central Research Libraries of the New York Public Library.)
