[Music] [Music] from 1957 to 1966 jim brown broke every existing ground gaining record in the national football league he was football's very best then on top of the football world jim brown stepped down to try a new career [Music] jim brown the actor says he's accomplished what he set out to do break a lot of taboos for the black actor more important to jim brown is his work as founder and president of the black economic union which aids black businessmen at all levels across the nation the one thing that the white establishment has to realize that the day is gone when black people are going to with one philosophy put down another brother stokely is my brother so his brother rap and cleaver we all have our organizations we all have our philosophies i like the uh comforts that i have in america as a blind i think most black people like them as i look around me i know that i make maybe half a million dollars a year and i know a lot of my brothers only make five to six but they eat the same food they drive the same kind of cars i drive and wear the same clothing so it's going to be hard for me for them to tell me that they don't like what the system offers we happen in the black economic union to be concentrating on economic development brother stokel is concentrating on something else brother cleaver is concentrating on something else now the one thing that i will never do is uh down my black brother who is fighting for freedom and who is fighting for his manhood and who is fighting for a better way of life i think that the one thing that black people have to do is develop a united front i think my black brother who is a foot soldier who is a a man that's on the street should also consider that he should not uh put down our conservative black brothers who are working within the establishment because i think that we need a cross-section of black people working in all capacity capacities to bring about the great change that we need in this country that's one reason i'm very proud of this organization because our philosophy is one of economic development i think brother stokely needs that brother rap needs that i think brother roy wilkins uh would say that that's a good philosophy i think any bigger in the south would say that's a great philosophy i think that even h.l hunt would uh pat me on the back because he'd want people off welfare so uh gentlemen you can see that i'm not going to get into any arguments about my brothers who happen to maybe have a little more uh uh direct contact with the masses and who happen to use maybe a few more inflammatory words but they're trying also we're all trying [Music] [Music] you
