[Music] [Music] james brown is one of the world's most popular and successful entertainers with record sales well past the 50 million mark his concerts bring him better than three million dollars a year but james brown says his greatest moment was not on the stage it happened in april 1968 during the riots which followed the murder of dr martin luther king james brown went on television to tell angry people to cool it and many listened we all loved dr martin luther king i know him personally and he was a fine man but he's a finer man now because he proves so many things you know from in the beginning uh jesus christ died late president lincoln he died president kennedy he died and now mr martin luther king he's died now i don't know i hope it don't cost no more lives i hope everybody can understand what's happening now because now is the time to understand we wanted a hero so we got one we didn't get it just like we wanted but we got one so we got something to live for we got an image to maintain we got a man would we got a dream that we want to fulfill we can do more with that dream now than he ever did because we know what he meant he believed in it enough to die for it we should have respect and dignity for our fellow man our country ourself we're not going to tell the country up because we we love this country this is ours you're not going to burn your house down you're not going to cut up your suit throw your shoes in trash can that makes sense this is this is far more more dedicated this is your home your life get off the streets go home take your families home look at television listen to radio i look at some james brown records i'm gonna get out the street my home's augusta georgia and you know i had my problems i know what it means but the main thing is you got determination enough believing confidence in yourself to go all the way don't burn give the kids a chance to learn don't terrorize but organize nobody can buy me i do what i want i say what i want to because this is america a man can get ahead here i just left africa i always want to go to africa because i want to know where my soul come from the heritage i want to know where it really started and say i have so much in common my music even got the drum uh syncopation the movements and the sound so i went to africa and i found people working for 200 a year 40 a month then i thought of something else i see you know with all the minor things that have my say america is the greatest country in the world [Music] you
