Victor/Victoria

The Parisian demimonde in 1934 is the subject of this musical farce about an unemployed singer, a gay cabaret performer and a tough Chicago nightclub owner. Love, mistaken identity and sexual role-playing abound with Julie Andrews starring as an impoverished English actress-turned-female impersonator and the toast of Paris. (Does not circulate)

Toddy, a performer at Chez Lui in Paris, sees Victoria Grant auditioning a frail, impoverished soprano, Victoria Grant. Toddy is struck with the inspiration of passing Victoria off as a man and presenting her to Andre Cassell, the most successful agent in Paris. Cassell accepts Victoria as Count Victor Grazinski, a gay Polish female impersonator and Toddy's new boyfriend. King Marchand is convinced that "Victor" is not a man.
