Description: Shows the careful, step-by-step training of the young horse from the handling and grooming of a foal through the introduction of complete tack and rider at three-to-four years old. Proceeds in a logical sequence through leading, training on a lunge rein, training in the basic paces, beginning jumping, and the gradual addition of the tack. Emphasizes teaching the horse obedience, rhythm, and balance before the rider is introduced. Demonstrates the gradual introduction of the rider to the horse to transfer control from the trainer, using the lunge rein, to the rider. Includes an introduction by HRH, the Princess Anne, Mrs. Mark Phillips based on her own practical knowledge and experience.
