The Making of a Continent: Part 3 The Price of Gold
Examines the traumatic geologic events that led to the shaping of the North American continent. Focuses on the Sierra Nevada range, explaining that when the mountains were pushed upward, minerals such as gold were exposed. Explains how sediment from the mountain ranges filled the shallow sea that became California's Central Valley and how the movement of the Pacific plate creates a continual threat of earthquakes. Based on geologist Ron Redfern's book, The Making of a Continent.
