Using rare archival material, this film documents the rise of an activist, urban working-class in Brazil at the turn of the century fed by the abolition of slavery and the waves of immigrants from Europe. These immigrant laborers, confronted by brutal working conditions and poor wages, were instrumental in building a labor movement with a strong anarchist orientation.
