In 1906, two boys crossing a lake at night encounter a mysterious monster. Years later, one of the witnesses, now a grandfather, tells the story to his grandson and other neighborhood boys. When the local canal is to be filled in for the construction of condominiums, Kevin and his grandfather Charlie brave a stormy night to allow the dinosaur-like creature to escape to the sea.
