Description: Daisy Mae Walker, an ambitious young singer from Prairieville, Texas, leaves family and boyfriend behind to seek her fortune in the big city. Arriving in New York, she befriends a taxi driver who helps her find a reputable roominghouse. There, the young woman happens upon a band in need of a singer and impresses the musicians with her version of Swing low, sweet chariot. Trouble looms in the wings, however, when Daisy meets Arnold Richardson, a man who offers to be her agent but harbors sinister intentions. Daisy meets with mishap but is rescued by Dunbar, her boyfriend from Prairieville, the cabbie, and members of the band.
