Description: Demonstrates how a reduced potential difference across the barrier is obtained if the positive pole of the voltage source is connected to the P-zone. Explains that the flow of majorities then exceeds the flow of minorities, giving an appreciable forward current. Illustrates that when a voltage of the opposite polarity is applied, the potential difference increases. Explains that when the number of minorities crossing the barrier exceeds the number of majorities, a weak current flows and, consequently, the P-N crystal can be used as a diode.
