Description: A portrait of two lonely people in the 1950's in rural America. Lucy Gilnetter is a sheep rancher living alone in the hills. When Lucy tries to adopt a girl from the orphanage to keep her company, she finds that all the girls are taken. As she turns to leave, a crippled boy named Ulysses introduces himself to her. In Lucy, Ulysses sees a woman in a picture from his most treasured book come alive. When Lucy rejects Ulysses, he decides to follow her home and make himself wanted.
