Sand On The Slippery Sidewalks Of Sales

*Sand on the Slippery Sidewalks of Sales* (1926) is a black-and-white instructional film designed for refrigerator servicemen, illustrating both the correct and incorrect approaches to servicing Frigidaire refrigerators. Featuring dramatized scenes, the film humorously juxtaposes service do's and don'ts, such as a repairman spitting chewing tobacco on a driveway and making a mess in a customer’s kitchen, against more professional behaviors taught in a Frigidaire factory service school. It includes a mix of domestic life, product education, and antique aesthetics, with striking visuals like a superimposed "ghost" imagining eating ice cream, disembodied hands interacting with tools and pamphlets, and animations highlighting key lessons. This vintage artifact not only educates but also reflects the marketing and service culture of the 1920s appliance industry.
