Description: For five years, feminist artist Judy Chicago worked with a community of four hundred artists, craftspeople and researchers to create The Dinner Party - an enormous triangular banquet table set for thirty-nine women of achievement ranging from mythic goddesses to contemporary artists like Georgia O'Keefe. For over four of those five years, filmmaker Joanna Demetrakas recorded the behind-the-scenes drama of this undertaking, revealing the technical and financial problems which Chicago and her colleagues had to surmount to rescue the contributions of women from historical oblivion and the traditional feminine arts of china painting and needlework from trivialization and obscurity.
