Restless Earth: Plate Tectonics Theory (Part 2)

Duration: 10:00

Year Published: 1973

Creator: WNET

Complete Record: We see mountains, including the Matterhorn in the Alps. There is an animation of the surface of the globe, showing the mountain ranges. A quick reenactment of humans 30,000 years ago making fire pits in Australia, then two geologists working at an ancient fire pit in Australia, removing a block of earth which is covered with plastic and measured for its magnetic alignment. There is a picture from above of this lab which is built specifically to be non-magnatized. Much of the rest of the film consists of animated sequences, showing continent movement with still images overlaid, sometimes with a man standing in front of a screen narrating. One more geological site is shown, where men in a tent take measurements and explode dynamite in a hole.
