Description: Hans Christian Andersen's timeless fairytale is brought into the present as this animated film takes place in a lower middle-class black neighborhood in New York. When her parents win the lottery, Lisa, a once pleasant child, becomes a greedy brat who snubs her best friend, Jenny. Alphonse, a gentle cobbler, makes a heartbroken Jenny a pair of magic red slippers which Lisa steals.
