Best friends Jo and Lisa are rehearsing for their school's Fall Follies. Jo has written a song which Lisa, the better singer, will perform. Jo also tries out as a dancer in the show, partly to please her mother, who is a dance instructor. She is later asked to drop out of the dance line because she cannot memorize the routines. Discussing her disappointments with parents, Jo comes to terms with her talents and enjoys the praise she gets at the concert for her song.
