Only the ball was white

This documentary looks back at the time when major U.S. baseball leagues refused to hire black athletes. Using archival footage, photographs, and interviews with former athletes, narrator Paul Winfield recounts the number of unrecognized athletes denied stardom because of the color line. Among those sharing recollections of life in the Negro leagues are Satchel Paige, Don Newcombe and Roy Campanella.
