Description: Chronicles a year in the lives of three ranchers in Montana - from the birth of calves in winter, through the branding in the spring and the county fair in the summer, to the sale and shipping of the calves in early winter. A 70-year-old cowboy relates his fifty years of cowpunching; a 65-year-old woman rancher battles the onslaught of the strip mines. Leasing its land to the mine, a fourth generation family tries to save its ranch in a world of agribusiness.
