Description: Compares five different marriages in five different societies to point out that marriage takes many forms and is, in many respects, dependent upon where one lives. Shows a wife with three husbands in the Himalayas, a couple in an affluent English community, a man with three wives in New Guinea, a man with two wives in Botswana, and a young couple in Lancashire, England. Interviews the married couples and discusses the roles assigned to men and women in each society.
