Children

Compares and contrasts the different styles of child rearing in four cultures--India, Africa, New Guinea, and England. States that all children require love and security and that this is easily provided in the extended families of primitive societies. Points out that in primitive societies children are expected to remain with the family and take care of aging parents whereas in English families parents interviewed indicated that they wanted their children to visit but did not expect to be supported.
