Title: "Councilman Tom Bradley and Mayor Sam Yorty on rapid transit." Date: April 18, 1973.
Summary: In two separate press conferences Tom Bradley and Mayor Sam Yorty discuss different aspects of rapid transit. Bradley talks about the current need for rapid transit that Mayor Yorty does not seem to recognize. He also mentions the work he has done on the city council to support rapid transit, and criticizes Yorty for removing rapid transit funds from the budget to be used for other purposes. Yorty states rapid transit falls under a state agency and is not under the city's control. The state legislature must be changed to allow funds from the state gas tax to be used for rapid transit. He also talks about his willingness to back rapid transit, but disputes within the city council prevented it from going forward. Yorty also responds to questions. Includes silent footage of the press.
