Description: Suburban physicist Wayne Szalinski is dismissed by the scientific world for his latest invention, an electronic magnetic shrinking machine. That is, until he accidentally zaps his own children, Nick and Amy as well as the Thompson boys, reducing them in size to insect level. The youngsters' predicament is exacerbated when they are swept up and put out with the trash. Attempting to make their way back to the house, the tiny troupe must elude the dangers of a front lawn that has suddenly become a jungle where ominous ants lurk behind giant blades of grass. The children nearly drown in a mud puddle created by a lawn sprinkler, are narrowly stepped on by their parents, done in by a determined lawn mower, and almost eaten by the family dog. Attacked by a frightening swarm of bees, the children find solace in a huge cookie Nick had previously dropped in the grass. When night comes, the marooned group sleeps inside a lego piece. The miniaturized band finally finds its way to the Szalinski breakfast table where Wayne discovers them just as he is about to eat his son with a spoonful of cereal. The children are restored to normal size and the families are reunited. (Circulates). Genre/FormFeature films. Comedy films. Action and adventure films.
