Produced for multi-agency use, with the cooperation of LA City and County Fire Departments, Ventura County Fire Department and the US Forest Service, this film describes and demonstrates the early system of Campaign Fire Management used in organizing large scale responses of men and equipment to wildland fires. With roots in the military system of logisitics, this system of organization enabled California’s early wildland fire managers to launch "an army of men" against it’s traditional summer foe with the speed and efficiency of a military force. Outlines the duties of the Command, Suppression and Support functions. Footage includes vehicles, radios, aircraft, and equipment in common use for fire suppression crews of that era.
