Description: A joint research project of the US Dept of Agriculture, Forest Service Region 5, Arcadia Equipment Development Center, The California Forest and Range Experiment Station and the California Division of Forestry. Demonstrates an early research attempt to use helicopters for laying hose for firefighters during wildland fire suppression operations. This technique was not widely adopted, but the film indicates the multi-agency effort put into developing unique ideas to discover innovative solutions to the wildfire problem in California. The film demonstrates the use of a hose-lay tray. How to attach the bracket assembly, put hose in the tray and lay hose by helicopter.
