Description:
Description: A Japanese American farming family's new irrigation system is the showpiece of the first half of this reel. Once the fields are irrigated, the camera's attention moves along with the season to summer days of picking, harvesting, and assembling a strawberry harvest in the Pacific Northwest with long attention to the work and workers toiling in the fields and with peripheral attention to the activities of children and visitors and the surrounding landscape.
Includes images of Indigenous people from Canada and Washington state who came each year as seasonal workers for the berry harvest on the Koura farm, as well as possibly workers of Filipino heritage and other ethnicities.
