Description: A German language film with English subtitles. Tells the story of Joachim Hofer, who starts his new job as a teacher in a little village in Alsace. He is given a friendly welcome by the farmers, but soon finds out that his students live and study under impossible conditions, with the school resembling a goat stable. Continues as Joachim convinces the farmers that a school has to be built, but when he tries to lure his students away from field work during daytime, he is chased away. Based on a short story by Gunter Herburger.
