Description: A Japanese language film. Presents a tale adapted freely from a true story that took place in Japan shortly before its surrender in the Pacific War. Explains that because of food shortage and intensifying air-raids, the fierce animals in zoos had to be killed. Points out that out of pity a few people hid an elephant in the mountains and helped it survive. Emphasizes the absurdity of war as well as a little boy's courage and love for animals.
