The Film opens with the following message: "This Film is designed to explore the problem and suggest some of the things you will have to consider when you face the question: Going Steady?" Marie and Jeff, a teenage couple, discuss the challenges and benefits of going steady with their parents and friends. After Jeff and Marie consider their options, the Film ends with the following message: "This story hasn't answered all your questions, has it? Of course, each boy and girl faces a different problem. When you are faced with this problem, what will your answer be? What are the advantages--and the disadvantages--of going steady?"
