After a 2,000 year flashback into prehistory, archaeological remains from various sites in France and Peking are compared. Neanderthal man is described as the pioneer of human culture, a man not fundamentally different from modern man. The reason for the disappearance of Neanderthal man and the lifestyle of Homo Erectus, the level of his culture, and relation to other proto-men are still unknown.
