Presents a biographic summary of Eugene Debs, the times in which he lived, and his part in the organized labor movement and the establishment of the Socialist Party of America. Follows Debs from his beginnings as a railroad worker at the age of 14 and continues through his life activities, which included establishing an industry-wide railroad union and the Industrial Workers of the World, running as the Socialist candidate for president four times, speaking out against World War I as a capitalist war, praising the Bolshevik Revolution, and serving several stays in prison.
