One of three short films excerpted from Reiniger's unfinished feature - I own two. The "humorous" racial stereotyping is obviously not cool, this is posted for historical interest as well of course as for Reiniger's incredible technique, wasted though it may be on Hugh Lofting. Let the record show that my grandfather distributed this film to Canadian classrooms through Carman Educational Associates into the early 1980s.

foreign [Music] hey [Music] dr doolittle and his pets are in africa they're on their way to monkeyland to look after the monkeys when some cannibals find them will they be friendly [Music] oh yeah not very friendly in fact ow the doctor and his pets were hustled away to the cannibal king [Music] and now they're in prison however can they get out of here [Music] maybe polly can help she's small enough to get between the bars [Music] food [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] here comes the son of the cannibal king he's a great tennis player but polly can play him any day [Applause] me [Music] ah [Music] polly quickly flew back to the prison heart with the key they must hurry and get away before the cannibal king finds the key is missing come on quickly now [Music] but now the king has discovered that dr doolittle and his pets have escaped and he runs to give the alarm and summon all the cannibals to chase after them [Music] two two [Music] led by chichi the monkey the pets and dr dolittle run as fast as they can towards monkey land [Music] but poor little gob gub the pig can't run as fast as the others what can he do if he waits here the cannibals will get him [Music] so it's a real piggy back for gab gub hurry now [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] they are very near monkey land and now the monkeys run to help them [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] a steep cliff and no bridge how on earth can they get across for the monkeys know how by monkey bridge [Music] me [Music] at last they are safe from the cannibals safe in monkeyland [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
