Description: A German language film with English subtitles. Describes the reign of Friedrich Wilhelm I, who did not inherit his father's love for science and the fine arts. He changed the Prussian Court to a militaristic regime, demoting Grunding, who was a professor of history and literature during his father's reign, to court jester, setting the stage for a lifelong battle of mind over power. Ends with both losing and Grunding, the one without power, being destroyed.
