Description: This film is part of "The Living Bible" series from the early 1950's produced by Family Films. The episode begins with Jesus before Pilate. Soldiers make Jesus and two robbers pick up their crosses and carry them through town. A weary Jesus carries his cross past mocking crowds and the high priests. Soldiers whip the prisoners to keep them moving. Jesus drops his cross and the soldiers recruit Simon of Cyrene to carry the cross for him. Jesus addresses the women on the path to "Weep not for me."The procession gets to the hill Golgotha and Jesus is nailed to the cross (off camera). The crosses are lowered into their holes and raised. Jesus looks skyward and says, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." The soldiers cast lots for the garments. After several hours a darkness comes over the Earth and Jesus declares, "My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Later, Jesus says, "It is finished" and dies.
