Many of the familiar western stereotypes have their roots in Broncho Billy, a character created by G. M. Anderson in the early 1900's. In this later Essanay film, made at the peak of his career, Anderson portrays the duty-bound sheriff forced to arrest his lady friend after discovering that she has plotted to rob a stagecoach.
