Footage shows: a snowy scene with a woman in a fur coat and a large car, the woman walks towards a large house (Kate Gleason's house Clones in East Rochester). People outside the house, in street scenes, outside a gas station in East Rochester. Scenes of a garden at the Penn School (now the Penn Center, St. Helena Island, S.C. Kate Gleason was a benefactor of the Penn School). Sound newsreel truck in the foreground (RCA PhiloPhone), people gathered for an event, a Ford Model A Tudor (license plate SC CX 45 24), family on a picnic in the gardens. Scenes on a dockside, views from the boat, people disembarking, going to and from Dataw Island, at the beach, Kate’s sister Eleanor walking on the beach. She left Dataw to her secretary Elizabeth Sanders, who married Richard H. Rowland in 1936. These films were shot possibly by Kate Gleason, one of her brothers, Elizabeth Sanders or Richard H. Rowland and show Gleason’s family and friends, both in South Carolina and Rochester, New York in the late 1920s to the early 1930s, and trips abroad to Ireland, France and Germany.
