Description: One in a series of four IU-AVC films documenting theatre arts, this film examines the issue of stage safety through the comments of technical directors and theater safety experts interspersed with documentary footage of practices backstage. Topics include: safety problems, appropriate procedures and attitudes for safety, precautions for special devices, regulations, safety during the performance, and backstage practices during the strike. The commentary and documentary sections are woven together with original footage of Buster Keaton and appropriate music by theater organist Dennis James. Special Merit Award, Athens International Film/Video Festival.
