William Faulkner’s short story of an indomitable rich Southern woman who clutched the past so resolutely that life itself was denied. A twentieth century Gothic tale, a psychological study of isolation, and a history of the decay of the old order. Angelica Huston stars as Miss Emily Grierson and John Carradine is featured in a cameo role. When Emily was young, her tyrannical father drove her suitors away. After his death, she succumbed to the advances of a man beneath her station - a Yankee day laborer. He disappeared, and forty years she lived in seclusion. Upon her death, the townspeople find a bedroom decorated as a bridal chamber, on the bed, the remains of a man.....
