The film starts with a 1935 title card and then footage of General John J. Pershing at what appears to be a road house or gas station (0:14). The car he's in appears to be a Chevrolet, based on the eagle hood ornament. Pershing speaks to various people, before getting back into the car and heading out on the highway (1:53). At (2:25) are images of the main street of a small western town, location unknown, followed by some shots of an unknown family. At (3:06), a Navy Boeing F4B-4 biplane flown by pilot Frank Hawks is shown taxing towards camera. At (3:30) Frank Hawks shakes hands with well wishers in front of the Western Air Express hangar. At (4:28) an unidentified man walks towards camera. At (4:35) a man, probably a veteran and a member of the American Legion based on his distinctive hat, poses with a mule that wears a "Denver Mile High" banner. At (5:06) what appears to be Gen. Pershing emerging from a building, surrounded by veterans and/or legionnaires. At (5:15) a train is shown with President Herbert Hoover making a whistle stop tour. Frank Monroe Hawks was a pilot in the United States Army Air Service during World War I and was known during the 1920s and 1930s as a record breaking aviator, using a series of Texaco-sponsored aircraft, setting 214 point-to-point records in the United States and Europe. After retiring from a career as an air racer, he died in 1938, flying an experimental aircraft.
