Description: This home movie captures scenes of the Yount family’s Spindletop Hall mansion during the winter. Shortly after her husband Miles Frank Yount's death in 1933, Pansy Yount moved their Spindletop Stables, originally built in Beaumont, to Lexington, Kentucky, and re-established it as Spindletop Farm. The mansion was completed in 1937 and is now part of the University of Kentucky. Footage includes scenes of the Yount family walking through the snow and various animals around the grounds. The Yount-Manion Films were given to Lamar University by Greg Riley and Fred McKinley. The pair discovered the films while researching their 2005 book, Black Gold to Bluegrass: From the Oil Fields of Texas to Spindletop Farm of Kentucky, which chronicles the legacy of Frank and Pansy Yount.
