Description: This 1957 home movie captures a graduation ceremony at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont. Numerous young women, dressed in full cap and gown, walk down the church aisle, while an audience sits and watches in the pews. The priest hands each woman a certificate, and then the women kneel. The Yount-Manion Films were given to Lamar University by Greg Riley and Fred McKinley. The pair discovered the films while researching their 2005 book, Black Gold to Bluegrass: From the Oil Fields of Texas to Spindletop Farm of Kentucky, which chronicles the legacy of Frank and Pansy Yount.
