Description: An artistic interpretation by Don Fox of Nathaniel Hawthorne's story, Young Goodman Brown, which tells about man's involvement with hidden evil., Adapts, using special effects, Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story about a young New England Puritan's realization of the basic evil in all men and records his struggle to resist joining the Devil's league. Portrays Brown's agony as the Devil reveals the impending initiation of Brown's wife and his past associations with Brown's family and the "pious" people of the church. Uses animation and infrared film with special filters to depict the impending initiation ritual of Brown and his wife. Shows Brown resisting the ritual, culminating in his return to a just-completed witch burning whereupon he ponders his perilous experience and the good or evil in his companions.
