Yohannes The Silversmith (Ethiopia)

Yohannes Mengesha wants to be a doctor. He learns the silversmith trade to pay his expenses. He casts his first creation and we follow the process from start to finish., Twelve-year-old Yohannes Mengesha's ambition is to attend university and become a doctor. His parents agree, but his father suggests that he learn a trade to earn money to pay for his education. Yohannes is apprenticed to a master metalsmith. With silver from his mother's amulets, the boy casts his first creation, a beautiful Coptic cross which he sells to a priest at a monastery on Lake Tana.
